Once I upgraded the client to version 3, the problem went away and I could do a checknrpe -H client IP without issues. Note that I am not sure if client/server are the right terms with nagios, as in the case of an NRPE call, the server is really the machine being called, but I digress.
Checked firewalls both ends, turned off, checked ports. Checked allowed IP address both ends, client and server. Checked everything, must be something wrong with the NSclientRunning Naemon NRPE 2.5 on both Ubuntu 14.04 and Centos 7Tried version 4 and 5 NSClient clients on Windows 7 and 2012 ServerJamie.
